At the $170,000 WTA Tour tournament in Kolkata, India Kaia faced 95th ranked Sybille Bammer of Austria in quarterfinal. The first set was very close - Kaia won it 7-5, but second set looked already easier (score-wise) 6-3.
"I'm very happy to reach my first Tour semifinal," Kaia said following her quarterfinal win. "It's been a long way back from my injury, but I feel like I'm playing close to my best again. I'm really going to be trying my best to reach the final."
Kaia is the first Estonian woman to reach a WTA Tour singles semifinal - great achievement! In semis she will face the top seed Anastasia Myskina (#12) of Russia. Tomorrows semifinal will start at 17:00 local time (13:30 CET).
