In the second round of qualifying Kaia played against Rumanian Raluca Sandu (267) and won, 6-3, 6-2. Together with the first-round win it brought valuable 6,5 points (3,5 + 3) to Kaia. Kaia's next round opponent is Renata Voracova (196), whom Kaia downed in semi-finals of junior tennis event in Essen two years ago.

In new rankings Kaia has held her ranking at No 187. Her good appearance in the qualifying of the Porto WTA event ensures her a higher position in rankings next Monday.

In the first round of the main draw Kaia played against Valentina Sassi (148) from Italy, who got into the main draw through qualifying, and won 6-3, 6-2! Very good for Kaia! Congratulations to Kaia, her family and coach! In the next round Kaia has probably much stronger opponent - top-seeded Angeles Montolio, who has not finished her first round yet as at the score 6-3, 5-2 against Eva Bes the match was suspended because of the rain and will probably be finished tomorrow.
Kaia has gathered 24,5 points in Porto (5,5 points for qualifying to the main draw and 12 points for reaching into the second round of the main draw and 7 points for the "quality" of defeated opponents).

Today Kaia had a serious one-hour match against top-seed Angeles Montolio at the Porto tournament and she had to accept an older and more experience opponent triumphing - final score of the match was 4-6, 1-6.
Still, the Porto tournament was a great success where lots of valuable points were gained - 24,5, as well as good experience for future appearances in big courts.
Already this weekend Kaia will be playing in the first round of qualifying of next WTA tournament and hopefully she would move into the main draw in Estoril. Kaia will have her first match already on Saturday, April 6th .
At the 140 000 $ WTA tournament Porto Open first round of qualifying No 9 seed Kaia won 224th ranked Vanesa Krauth from Argentina with a very impressive score 6-0, 6-0. By this win Kaia earned additional valuable 4 ranking points (2 points for passing the first round and 2 points for the ranking of the defeated opponent).
